A Great Day at Sandalwood
The Mt Hutt College Team had a
good day at the Sandalwood Inter-
Secondary School Event coming 2nd out
of 8 teams.
The Individual placing's were:
Group 1, Elizabeth 3rd
Group 2, James 3rd and Kate 4th
The team consisted of Sarah Waddell –
River Rock, Emily Chamberlin – Awatuna
Ghostly Image, Elizabeth Waddell -
Navara II, James Waddell – Freelance II,
Heidi Cuttle – Rockwell Sweetpea, Kate
Waddell – Spectular Trio.

Our College had a small but select
team entered for this event held at
the Halswell Quarry in Christchurch
in summery conditions. The course was
a demanding one but fortunately the
surface was not too soft under foot as in
previous years.
In the Under 14 girls grade we had two
competitors who acquitted themselves
well-Bonnie Thorpe who finished 32nd
and Tiffany Nordqvist 47th. Most grades
had 50-70 competitors so our athletes
competed well in strong fields.
We had one competitor in the Under 14
Boys Grade-Declan O’Neill ran a very
aggressive race early on and he finished
a highly commendable 10th place.
In the Junior Girls race (U15) our two
representatives were very competitive
with Assina Dalglish placing 8th and
Juliette Lewis 18th.
Alice Todhunter ran in the Intermediate
Girls event placing a very respectable
27th and our final competitor was Jake
Bell who finished in 20th place in the
Senior Boys event-both these runners had
to compete over the longer 4km course
involving running a long hill twice.
Buddy Reading at Our Lady of the Snows
On Thursday afternoon, Room 3 have been enjoying lots of
buddy reading with the Room 2 children. Buddy reading is
reading to friends from your own browsing box. A browsing
box is where we keep our books that we have read at home. We are
showing and sharing our books, When we buddy read we need to
sit side by side. At the end of a story we ask our buddy a question
or a comment about the book. We enjoy buddy reading because we
can read to one another and share our great ideas.

Diary
After two weeks of doing nothing, my long weekend
was luckily, filled with fun activities.
Friday night brought around another week of the
Super 15 rugby competition and my dad and I were
lucky enough to head off to Christchurch to watch the
Crusaders and the Highlanders face off.
After a loss the last time we played the Highlanders, the Crusaders came out and were
awesome! We had a great view of the game and Zac Guildford was right in front of us!
After smashing the Highlanders 51-18 and bumping into a few familiar faces it was time
to go home.
Saturday was rugby day, and after tossing up whether to watch my brother in the u18s
or go with Cory to watch the u16s, I decided to head to Christchurch to watch Ashley’s
brother play in Sumner, do a bit of shopping and watch Men In Black 3D instead, which
was a really good movie.
The rest of my weekend was spent doing homework and watching a few movies.
