Housing Development Frameworks
The joint Housing Strategy outlines plans for growth, and for improving the success of
existing neighbourhoods, include a focus on our major area regeneration projects.
Housing Development Frameworks are being developed to exploit housing
opportunities within the Masterplan areas and to establish realistic plans and delivery
frameworks to regenerate these areas and make a difference. These are the Canal
Road Corridor, Manningham, Airedale, the Leeds/Bradford Corridor, and the City
Centre. We will work with the Homes & Communities agency to deliver our ambitions
for these areas.
The Canal Road Corridor offers the opportunity for the creation of new successful
mixed neighbourhoods with up to 6000 dwellings, alongside new employment
opportunities, but also enables adjoining communities, such as Manningham, to
benefit from the buoyancy created by the new area.
In Manningham, existing successful regeneration plans can be extended to new
opportunities for high quality housing to complement key employment sites. We will
work with any employer within the area or developer to assist housing growth and to
transform Manningham into a sustainable area where people would choose to live.
Green spaces will be enhanced and sites such as the reservoir site- a Bradford
Wildlife Site- will be protected.
The Leeds/Bradford Corridor involves joint working to make the most of the
powerful links between the two cities to boost the success of the neighbourhoods
along the corridor – including Holmewood, Ravenscliffe, and Laisterdyke – and to
exploit opportunities in areas in between these neighbourhoods. Significant growth
opportunities exist in the area between Bradford and Leeds and upwards of 6000 new
homes could be provided in this area.
