Legacy of Design
Don’t Miss Your Opportunity to Shine Bright within the State of Texas and Beyond

Details regarding the 2007 Legacy of Design Awards, the annual competition
recognizing the finest interior design achievements within the Texas
Chapter, were announced Friday, February 16th via an email blast to all
designer members. Comprehensive information is also available on the Legacy
of Design page on the ASID Texas website [www.asidtx.org].
Winners will be honored at the Legacy of Design Awards Party, will again
be held in conjunction with METROCON Expo & Conference. This year’s
event will be held on Friday, August 17, 2007 from 6 pm – 9 pm. (Location
TBD at the time of this writing.)
Winners’ names, including select
photographs, will be listed on
the public-accessible portion
of the ASID Texas website
throughout the 2007-2008 ASID
calendar year, and a press release
highlighting the roster of winning
designers will be sent out to a
variety of local, regional, and
national publications.
The Board is pleased to
announce the awards’ new media
sponsor, LUXE, Texas’ largest
design and architecture magazine
[www.luxemagazine.com]. They have Texas covered” with one statewide
edition and three regional editions, including LUXE Dallas/Ft. Worth, LUXE
Austin/San Antonio, and LUXE Houston.
LUXE will designate at least one half-page per winner in a special section
within the Fall 2007 issue, which will arrive on newsstands September 2007.
This Legacy section will appear in three publications: the Dallas/Ft. Worth
edition, the Austin/San Antonio edition, and the Texas statewide edition,
which lands on newsstands in outlets such as Barnes & Noble, Borders, CVS,
Whole Foods, Brookshire’s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Kroger, HEB, Hastings, as
well as airports across the state. In addition to the large- and medium-sized
metropolitan outlets, newsstand distribution will include, but is not limited
to, smaller municipalities such as Allen, Arlington, Baytown, Bellaire, Channelview,
Colleyville, Commerce, Conroe, Coppell, Flower Mound, Frisco, Galena Park,
Greenville, Humble, Irving, Katy, Leander, Lulling, McKinney, Midland,
Montgomery, Pasadena, Plano, Quinlan, Richmond, Roanoke, Rockwall,
Seabrook, Southlake, Spicewood, Spring, Sugar Land, and Tomball.
In an effort to encourage even more entries, ASID Texas is offering an array
of categories, taking care to accommodate a wide range of projects from
across the state. To alleviate feelings of intimidation, the Chapter is continuing
on with the popular RISING STARS division. These categories are open
only to designers who have practiced design for 10 years or less. Designers
meeting the RISING STARS eligibility have the choice of entering either section,
as the DESIGN MAVENS categories are open to all Registered Interior Designers
regardless of length of practice.
As to be more accommodating and fiscally responsible to our diverse
membership, ASID Texas is again offering two different methods for obtaining
an entry packet: downloading
and printing .pdf files off of the
www.asidtx.org website or
requesting from the Chapter
Office that an entry packet be
mailed to them. The competition
will be publicized via a
mailer and multiple email blasts
to all designer members, within
some Industry Partner showrooms,
and in the Spring 2007
issue of LUXE. The due date for
submittal binders is 5:00pm
on Friday, May 18, 2007.
The ASID Texas Chapter is full of amazingly innovative, cleverly creative
designers just bursting with talent. From hospitality to healthcare, retail to
residential, our dynamic group serves its clients well and deserves to be noticed.
We hope that members use Legacy of Design as a marketing tool, an ego booster,
or both – as long as they take advantage of this marvelous opportunity not
only to reach potential clients in their areas, but from around the state.
