Laurier School <strong>of</strong> <strong>Business</strong> & Economics - Wilfrid Laurier University<br />

David Rose (Coach)<br />

David Rose teaches marketing courses at Laurier School <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Business</strong> & Economics, focusing on marketing strategy, and is<br />

the author <strong>of</strong> numerous case studies, with several appearing in<br />

marketing and strategy texts. He holds an <strong>MBA</strong> from Wilfrid<br />

Laurier University and a B.Math from University <strong>of</strong> Waterloo.<br />

He has been teaching at Laurier since 1998, following more<br />

than 20 years in marketing and management positions primarily<br />

in the petroleum industry. David’s research and consulting<br />

interests involve the use <strong>of</strong> language analysis s<strong>of</strong>tware to better<br />

understand the voice <strong>of</strong> the customer.<br />

Andre Jean-Louis Belisle (Competitor)<br />

Andre Belisle has an Honours Bachelors <strong>of</strong> Medical Sciences<br />

Specialization in Physiology and a Masters in Anatomy and Cell<br />

Biology from the University <strong>of</strong> Western Ontario. His research<br />

focused on characterizing a rabbit model <strong>of</strong> atherosclerosis and<br />

developing MRI imaging techniques for imaging vascular plaque.<br />

He managed three Home Hardware Stores and was general<br />

manager <strong>of</strong> a Home Hardware Building Centre. He aspires to a<br />

career as an entrepreneur where he can grow his own business<br />

and seeks opportunities where he can further develop and<br />

improve his skills.<br />

Matthew <strong>John</strong> Davies (Competitor)<br />

Matthew holds graduate degrees in Sport Psychology and Sport<br />

Management; his research on job satisfaction was published<br />

internationally. In addition, he holds undergraduate degrees in<br />

Psychology and English. Matthew spent the last seven years<br />

working in the Sport Industry, gaining experience in fundraising,<br />

relationship management, project management, and marketing.<br />

Currently involved on-campus as the VP-Academics for the<br />

<strong>MBA</strong>SA, he is also an Assistant Coach with the university’s men’s<br />

basketball program. Matthew intends to pursue a career that<br />

combines his interest in strategic management and marketing.<br />

Heather Ann Gawel (Competitor)<br />

Heather Gawel holds both a Bachelor and Masters <strong>of</strong> Applied<br />

Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Waterloo specializing in biomechanics and biomedical material<br />

interactions. Heather’s work experience includes quality control<br />

and process optimization for the automotive industry and<br />

managing an orthopedic implant research program operating out<br />

<strong>of</strong> Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. Heather is currently the<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Business</strong> for the University <strong>of</strong> Waterloo Alternative<br />

Fuels team where she manages fundraising, sponsorship and<br />

business development for the team<br />

Eric Fabian Humes (Competitor)<br />

Eric Humes has earned a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science degree, general<br />

studies, with concentrations in Chemistry and Community<br />

Health Science, as well as an Honours Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science<br />

degree in Biology. This led to a Masters <strong>of</strong> Biotechnology, which<br />

resulted in Eric’s research into genetically modified yeast strains<br />

being internationally patented in April 2010. Eric is currently<br />

embracing the new experiences <strong>of</strong> the <strong>MBA</strong> curriculum and life.<br />

He is the <strong>MBA</strong>SA President, which <strong>of</strong>fers many challenges and<br />

opportunities to grow as an individual, expanding his abilities to<br />

be a team player and to evolve as a respected leader.<br />
