sensing, and GIS. It is very actively involved in the Hellenic Cadastre work, and lists many Greek
Public Departments and European Commission amongst its customers. Its website also provides a
good overview of some Greek GI sources. Mentioned already further above, Ktimatologio S.A.
(www.ktimatologio.gr) is a private sector firm which is definitely a key player because of its central role
in designing, developing and operating the Hellenic Cadastre. The Company was established by a
joint decision of the Ministries of National Economy, Finance, and Environment, Physical Planning and
Public Works. It operates according to the rules that govern private sector companies. Ktimatologio
S.A. does not belong into the category of organisations and enterprises of the broader Public Sector
and, therefore, it is not subject to terms and regulations that govern such organisations and
enterprises. The sole shareholder of the company is the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning
and Public Works.
