sensing, and <strong>GI</strong>S. It is very actively involved in the Hellenic Cadastre work, and lists many Greek<br />

Public Departments and <strong>Europe</strong>an Commission amongst its customers. Its website also provides a<br />

good overview <strong>of</strong> some Greek <strong>GI</strong> sources. Mentioned already further above, Ktimatologio S.A.<br />

(www.ktimatologio.gr) is a private sector firm which is definitely a <strong>key</strong> player because <strong>of</strong> its central role<br />

in designing, developing and operating the Hellenic Cadastre. The Company was established by a<br />

joint decision <strong>of</strong> the Ministries <strong>of</strong> National Economy, Finance, and Environment, Physical Planning and<br />

Public Works. It operates according to the rules that govern private sector companies. Ktimatologio<br />

S.A. does not belong into the category <strong>of</strong> organisations and enterprises <strong>of</strong> the broader Public Sector<br />

and, therefore, it is not subject to terms and regulations that govern such organisations and<br />

enterprises. The sole shareholder <strong>of</strong> the company is the Ministry <strong>of</strong> Environment, Physical Planning<br />

and Public Works.<br />
