73. Stock vs. ported. Make sure you block off the holes in the
sides of the TGv with pipe plugs. You can also weld them shut if
you are maniacal.
75. It is now time to reinstall your turbo. Re-install the turbo coolant
and oil lines now as well. Then, reinstall the intake manifold.
77. Torque your flywheel bolts to 54lbs and your clutch cover
bolts to 15lbs. That’s it! Your engine is built and ready to drop
back in. Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

74. Another quick item, we installed larger injectors, a must for a
big turbo build. These are Deatschwerk 750cc nozzles.
76. Our new clutch assembly. This is a heavy-duty unit for the
newer Legacy GT, from Advanced Clutch Technology. Their
catalog didn’t list it at the time of press, but it’s available.
Make sure that before you start your engine,
you fill it with regular non-synthetic, non-detergent
oil and crank the motor over a few times with the
coil packs disconnected (a remote starter will work
here too) to build up oil pressure and circulate oil
in the engine. starting the engine dry will result in
instantaneous failure. Once the engine starts, listen
for any excessive noise like piston slap or valve/
piston interference. also, let the engine go through
a complete warm-up cycle and burp the coolant
system of air before driving the car Give your car a
good 500 miles of easy break-in, keeping revs below
4,000rpm, and using only light boost to seat the rings
and break in bearings. some say that the oil should
be changed after the first 100 miles, again with basic
10w30 non-synthetic oil. Then change it again after
500 miles with whatever oil you intend to use for
there on out. a proper synthetic is best. after that,
your new engine should be ready for a tune or track
use, and, if properly built, should give you miles and
miles of hard-driving performance. <
