22. The lower “hot side” boost tube installed in the car.
25. The stock overflow tank has to be removed to make room
for the boost tubes. Perrin includes an overflow tank with the kit,
which is installed on the passenger’s side of the car.
28. Detail of the bumper trimmed back. This can be difficult, so
take your time as you can always trim more away, but not add any
back. Be careful when cutting; use gloves and safety glasses.
31. Jeff cuts away a bit more material at the corners to clear the
big front mount.
23. If you are running a stock-style Legacy or 2008 WRX turbo,
this elbow bolts to the turbo and connects to the boost tube.
26. Next, trim back the bumper skin. Perrin starts with about
2.5-inches in from the front of the bumper skin.
29. Check to see that everything is lined up and the hood can
close before test-fitting the bumper.
32. It’s a good idea to mark where you want to cut with tape so
that you can have a reference. It makes for cleaner and straighter
cuts.
2007 LEGACY GT PROJECT
24. The intercooler tubes installed. Note that the Perrin kit uses a
short ram intake in place of the stock airbox.
27. Use a razor blade to score where you want to trim first. Then
go back over with a cutting wheel or rotary tool.
30. Test fit the bumper to check for rubbing and to see if more
material needs to be cut away.
33. The tow-hook cover will also have to be trimmed back a bit.
