With the end of the Missouri based 100 acre
Wood Rally, the team found itself based in the
northwest for a good three months, which gave the
team a chance to find a good home base to refit the
cars for the Olympus and Oregon trail Rallies, the
next two rallies on the calendar. During that time,
they decided it was time to upgrade their turbo sys-
tems, which were in large part stock spec C, Group
n VF36 twin-scroll setups, in favor of a larger Garrett
Gt30R-based system.
Through a twist of fate and a bit of luck, andy
and co-driver Robby Durant stumbled upon Perrin
Performance, located in hillsboro, Ore., a stone’s
throw away from the Washington County fairgrounds,
which is the start of the Oregon trail rally.
since the cars would be in Portland for just under
two months between the two rallies, the team
decided to take advantage of Perrin’s vast subaru
turbo-kit fabrication experience and have head engineer
and R&D guru, Jeff Perrin, build new turbo
setups for the two open class cars.
“This year, we wanted to have more of collaboration
between aeM, Cosworth, Garrett and tial
and develop a proper open class power plant,” said

Last year, the team was able to stick it to the
more powerful subaru team cars as well as some of
the other teams, like that of the Mitsubishi Canada
backed evo driven by andrew Comrie Picard.
“Competition progressed throughout the year
and the factory team moved on (power wise), and
we even had more competition from the Mitsubishi,”
said Pinker. “We were giving up power to all the
