“He can play the banging game, and he’s a good athlete for a big guy, so he’s a well-rounded player,”
defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said. “He’s the one guy on our front who can play all three spots and
nothing will change with him in there.”
Jean Francois took most of the first-team repetitions in practice this week, given Smith’s elbow injury. And
if the Smith cannot play Sunday night, Jean Francois knows the Seahawks will target him.
“I get that every game,” he said. “Everybody knows Justin Smith is one of the best defensive linemen. If
you’re dealing with a guy who hasn’t played or started, they’re going to do their best to come after me.”
