Step 5: If this distance is shorter than required by the design, consider the following<br />

alternatives<br />

• Choose a higher grade LazrSPEED 550 fiber or<br />

• Choose a low loss LazrSPEED 300 or LasrSPEED 550 solution.<br />

Please note that CommScope 360 pre-terminated solutions contain all<br />

low loss components as standard.<br />

If neither of these two options provide a working solution, there are further steps<br />

to consider:<br />

• Choose single-mode fiber<br />

• Reconfigure the solution to eliminate the cross-connect and reduce overall<br />

link loss<br />

This example shows how to determine that maximum distance given a set of system<br />

requirements. It can be used in several different ways, such as to determine the number of<br />

connector pairs allowable provided a set distance, or to determine if the proposed fiber type<br />

will allow an upgrade to a higher bandwidth.
