Step 5: If this distance is shorter than required by the design, consider the following
alternatives
• Choose a higher grade LazrSPEED 550 fiber or
• Choose a low loss LazrSPEED 300 or LasrSPEED 550 solution.
Please note that CommScope 360 pre-terminated solutions contain all
low loss components as standard.
If neither of these two options provide a working solution, there are further steps
to consider:
• Choose single-mode fiber
• Reconfigure the solution to eliminate the cross-connect and reduce overall
link loss
This example shows how to determine that maximum distance given a set of system
requirements. It can be used in several different ways, such as to determine the number of
connector pairs allowable provided a set distance, or to determine if the proposed fiber type
will allow an upgrade to a higher bandwidth.
