12.9 Solubility of CaSO4<br />

CaSO4 is only very slightly soluble in water and dilute H2SO4. CaSO4 precipitation should be prevented in<br />

an ion exchange bed, where it may occur when H2SO4 is used to regenerate a cation exchange resin.<br />

Precipitation can be avoided by step-wise regeneration as discussed in Section 11.6.<br />
