GREATER VANCOUVER WATER DISTRICT WATERSHED REGULATIONS The following rules and regulations of the Greater Vancouver Water District, hereinafter referred to as the District, are for the protection of the water sources in the Watershed from pollution and from fire. The policy of the District is to reserve its watershed lands for water supply and to exclude insofar as it can be carried out, all individuals seeking entry for other purposes or uses. It is absolutely essential that people entering the watershed realize that the water supply is potentially vulnerable to microbiological and chemical contamination through their actions and that they make every effort to prevent contamination by complying with these regulations. The GVRD’s drinking water treatment strategy has been developed based on the protection of the water supplies from contamination. Failure to adhere to the requirements of these Regulations shall be grounds for immediate eviction from the watershed and may result in permanent cancellation of entry privileges. 1.0 SANITARY REGULATIONS 1.1 Unless accompanied by an authorized representative of the District holding a valid Watershed Entry Permit, no person shall enter the watershed unless he/she has received instruction on the pollution prevention procedures and practices to be followed in the watershed, signed the required Health Declaration and has been issued with a Watershed Entry Permit as required by the GVRD’s Medical Health Officer. 1.2 No person shall enter or remain in the watershed except for and during the carrying out of such work or business as has been authorized by the District. 1.3 Persons entering the watershed must agree to the following in writing: (1) he/she will not enter the watershed when ill with diarrhea as a symptom, or when he/she has had severe diarrhea recently. (2) he/she will only enter the watershed when going to a valid job within the watershed - that is, a valid worksite to carry out a valid work duty.
