Jump onto a bus or book your own guide to get an instant feel for the city. A guided
tour is always worth the money.
Summer tour
In summer, from 13 June to 31 August,
a sightseeing bus leaves from in front of
the tourist information office daily at 2
p.m. with the exception of Midsummer
20-21 June. The 90-minute tour is a
comfy and convenient way to see the
best of Tampere, the most beautiful lake
and ridge scenery, the most impressive
architecture and the main sights.
The tour has English and Finnish
language guidance and includes visits
to Tampere Cathedral, Kaleva church,
Tampere Hall or the Metso library.
There’s no need to book in advance.

Tours on request
You can book a guided tour on wheels
or on foot, for yourself or a group at
any time of year. You can see the city in
comfort through the window of a bus or
taxi, or in summer from a street train or
boat. When it’s warm, walking is a good
way to investigate a theme or district
more closely.
The basic tour, Tampere in a Nutshell,
is the best choice for first-time visitors
to the city: after a comprehensive introduction,
further exploration is easy.
There are also dozens of theme tours
to choose from for a closer look at
the city’s history, culture, buildings,
industry and schools.
The city has a particularly rich industrial
tradition. From the Cotton Mill to the
Palace illustrates the history of the
textile industry and Rags to Riches,
Woods to Wealth the development of the
wood processing industry. Woven from

architect couple’. Insights into the city’s

Walking tours in the Pispala and Pyynikki
ridges or the Tampere Arboretum are
good choices for friends of nature.
Nokia or Nokia?
Have both! The fascinating Nokia and Nokia tour
presents the birthplace and beginnings of the mobile
phone giant. The tour skirts the shores of the
Tammerkoski rapids and visits the neighbouring
town of Nokia, the origin of Nokia Corporation’s
worldwide conquest.

various branches in the Tampere area which you
will also see during this guided bus tour.

range, it’s also possible to tailor the theme and
