Interview #1 Objectives<br />
This first <strong>in</strong>terview seeks to discover the nature <strong>of</strong> the respondents’ <strong>social</strong> <strong>in</strong>teractions<br />
with family and friends, the health <strong>of</strong> the respondent and close family members, the use<br />
<strong>of</strong> medical services by the respondent over the past few months, and the circumstances<br />
that brought them <strong>in</strong> for an HIV <strong>test</strong>. The <strong>in</strong>terview is divided <strong>in</strong>to several sections. The<br />
first section beg<strong>in</strong>s with a discussion <strong>of</strong> the composition <strong>of</strong> the household <strong>in</strong> which they<br />
live and the friends they see <strong>of</strong>ten and the person they rely on for advice, then moves to<br />
talk<strong>in</strong>g about work and leisure time <strong>of</strong> the respondent, the associations to which they<br />
belong, and their <strong>in</strong>volvement <strong>in</strong> those groups. The last section is devoted to discuss<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the circumstances that brought the respondent <strong>in</strong> for an HIV <strong>test</strong>.<br />
