Marian Today
Since Marian opened its doors in 1955, the young women who have come and gone have continued to
prove themselves as empowered, confident, independent, thinking leaders; Marian today is no different.
We define “leaders” as women who use their talents and faith to give hope to and make a difference in
the world. Our Marian girls are embracing leadership roles in the classroom, on the stage, on the court
and in their community.
Below you will find the many accomplishments and accolades Marian girls have recently earned.
Volleyball Academic Award
Congratulations to the 2009-2010 Varsity
Volleyball Team, who received the American
Volleyball Coaches Association Game Plan/
AVCA Team Academic Award, which honors
teams who have matched their dedication
to the sport of volleyball with excellence in
the classroom. This is the 10th year in a row
that the team, under the direction of Coach
Rochelle Rohlfs, has received this award.
NCTE Award
The National Council of Teachers of English
(NCTE) commended Marian High School
senior Allison Dethlefs with a certificate
for superior writing. The award honors 543
high school seniors as outstanding writers.
As a result, the Marian English Department
was recognized for its excellence within its
instructional program.
Winning students and their schools
receive certificates recognizing their
accomplishment, and the names of the
students and their schools are posted on the
NCTE website. Students also receive cards
highlighting their achievement to attach to
their college application forms.
The English Department has been
commended five times by the National
Council of Teachers of English for excellence
in its instructional program.
Class of 2010
Academics
Congratulations to the members of the Class of 2010 who earned $10.3 million in scholarships
to colleges and universities across the nation. Stay tuned for the 2009-2010 Annual Report for a

Welcome Class of 2014
Marian is honored to welcome 220 girls as
members of the Class of 2014. This is the
largest freshman class since 2001.
