Preface<br />

In today’s rapidly changing environment, there is a constant stream of new products becoming available. Some<br />

products like <strong>pharmaceutical</strong>s are developed to increase the quality of life of patients. Or in the case of the biotech<br />

industry, to develop biodegradable materials to reduce or even eradicate waste. The <strong>chemical</strong> industry is looking into<br />

how to convert waste or polluted products into raw materials to increase the life span of products. The petro<strong>chemical</strong><br />

industry is searching for more efficient production methods, since many of its raw material resources are not<br />

renewable.<br />

Time to market is decreasing rapidly in combination with shorter lifecycles for new products. This is forcing industry today to focus<br />

continuously on new developments and flexible ways of working to assure their success.<br />

All gas products are quality controlled. When applicable,<br />

an analysis certificate is included in the product. If not included,<br />

it can be requested separately. Please, check with<br />

your local Linde office to find out what is applicable for the<br />

products you order.<br />

• Under the heading ‘impurities’ the maximum concentration<br />

of specified impurities are stated. The actual concentration<br />

can be less.<br />

• Purity classification is expressed as a quality code e.g.<br />

5.5, where the number before the point represents the<br />

number of nines and the last number indicates the last<br />

decimal: 5.5 = 99.9995%, and 6.0 = 99.9999%. The given<br />

percentage value represents the defined minimum<br />

purity of actual gas. In the case of liquefied gas, the<br />

purity always represents the vaporized liquid phase.<br />

• Standard mixtures are delivered in molar units.<br />

• R&D mixtures are specified by the customer and can be<br />
