What are My Options for Pursuing a Minor?<br />
There are a variety <strong>of</strong> minors to choose from within a number <strong>of</strong> disciplines <strong>of</strong>fered at <strong>Clarkson</strong>. Minors vary in the number <strong>of</strong> required<br />
courses and total credit hours. <strong>Business</strong> majors have pursued minors in communications, psychology, statistics, engineering science,<br />
and a range <strong>of</strong> liberal arts (history, politics, social science, etc.) For a complete list <strong>of</strong> the minors available visit the on-line <strong>University</strong><br />

Once you have made a decision to pursue a minor and have discussed this option with your advisor, you need to <strong>of</strong>ficially declare the<br />
minor by completing a “minor declaration “ form. You will find that form posted on the SAS website at: http://www.clarkson.edu/sas/<br />
forms or you can obtain one from your advisor. Be sure to check your un<strong>of</strong>ficial transcript to ensure your minor has been <strong>of</strong>ficially<br />
recorded.<br />
Options for Minors within the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Business</strong><br />
Minor in Economics<br />
The Minor in Economics is designed for students who wish to pursue a minor in Economics. Completion <strong>of</strong> the minor provides broad<br />
exposure to the functional areas in Economics. All students choosing to minor in Economics must complete 18-credit hours, or six<br />
courses which include three required courses and any three 300 level or higher Economics courses <strong>of</strong>fered at <strong>Clarkson</strong> or those which<br />
have received formal transfer approval.<br />
1. Required courses:<br />
* EC 150 – Principles <strong>of</strong> Microeconomics or EC 350 (every Fall) (EO)<br />
* EC 151 – Principles <strong>of</strong> Macroeconomics or EC 350 (each Spring)(EO)<br />
EC 311 – Economics and <strong>Business</strong> Statistics (each semester)<br />
2. Electives – Choose THREE OR FOUR (if you have taken EC 350) 300 level or higher Economics Courses:<br />

* Students who complete EC 350 - Economic Principles and Engineering Economics are exempt from taking EC 150 and EC 151.<br />
EC 350 covers material from both EC 150 and EC 151.<br />
EC 350 will satisfy one course towards the minor. Students must then take EC 311 and four upper Level (300 or higher level) economics<br />
courses.<br />
Minor in Law Studies<br />
The minor in Law Studies is primarily designed for students who wish to structure their academic program to help prepare for law<br />
school. The minor will also serve the needs <strong>of</strong> students who want to learn more about the field <strong>of</strong> law and its many diverse issues and<br />
perspectives. All students choosing to minor in Law Studies must complete 18 credit hours (six courses) and satisfy the requirements<br />
indicated below.<br />
