The Ski Club Ski Club organizes day trips to ski mountains in the northeast.<br />

SPECTRUM The mission <strong>of</strong> this service organization shall<br />

Embracing Change to Reach a and interactions. SPECTRUM annually <strong>of</strong>fers approximately a dozen initiatives that encourage<br />

United Mission) membership and participation by the entire campus. From guest speakers, to a cinema series, to<br />

poetry jams, or talent and fashion shows, the group seeks activities that challenge the status quo<br />

and utilizes partnerships with other clubs/organizations, campus departments, and <strong>of</strong>f-campus<br />

vendors. SPECTRUM membership is inclusive <strong>of</strong> students, faculty, and staff. Dues are not required<br />

for students who pay an activity fee, however, there is a fee for faculty and staff.<br />

Sports Car Club <strong>Clarkson</strong> Sports Car Club was formed to promote the working knowledge <strong>of</strong> cars in a safe<br />

environment; to provide members with the opportunity to safely race their cars at a raceway or<br />

autocross course, to promote the street legal races at a pr<strong>of</strong>essional track and not on public<br />

roads, and to promote the safe use <strong>of</strong> cars in these events to the public, as well as provide facilities<br />

for the maintenance, repair, and tuning <strong>of</strong> automobiles to the members <strong>of</strong> this organization.<br />

Strategic Investments Group The purpose <strong>of</strong> this organization shall be to promote interest in the financial markets <strong>of</strong> the world<br />

while educating members in Debt, Equity, and Real Estate markets through the use <strong>of</strong> careful<br />

analysis and strategic investments that will be used to grow the funds capital. CSIG will also strive<br />

to develop the financial knowledge and skills <strong>of</strong> students who wish to gain exposure and hands on<br />

experience in the investment field. Our long term goal is to acquire capital sufficient enough to act<br />

as an Angel Investor for student entrepreneurs as well as local small business start up ventures.<br />

We aim to establish a Venture Capital fund in which a portion <strong>of</strong> the pr<strong>of</strong>its generated from the<br />

investment portfolio will go to. This will provide innovative members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Clarkson</strong> community,<br />

including students, faculty, and residents with a source <strong>of</strong> capital to finance their ideas.<br />

Student Orientation Service (SOS) SOS moves freshmen in at the beginning <strong>of</strong> the year. It is our job to see that their first day here runs<br />

smoothly, and we make the first impression <strong>of</strong> <strong>Clarkson</strong>.<br />

Sustainable Synergy Sustainable Synergy was formed to improve existing energy usage in <strong>Clarkson</strong> Univesity facilities<br />

using new high efficiency and renewable technology.<br />

Theatre Club Theatre Club provides both theatrical entertainment and an outlet for artistic self-expression in the<br />

realm <strong>of</strong> theatre arts for the <strong>Clarkson</strong> community. The Theatre Club has a play every fall and spring<br />

semester. They also put on one-act plays once a year.<br />

The Ultimate Frisbee Club Ultimate Frisbee Club is an organization composed <strong>of</strong> people who have a love for tossing a disc.<br />

The club participates in several tournaments in the New England area each semester. Other<br />

activities for the club include disc golf, local scrimmages and weekly practices. If you have ever<br />

had the desire to catch a disc with your teeth, this is the club for you.<br />

WCKN Television WCKN is the student television station and is also the local cable systems public access station.<br />

Being both <strong>of</strong> those imposes a responsibility not only to the students, but also to the community.<br />

We try to fulfill those responsibilities by putting on programming that is both entertaining and<br />

educational. Our in-house programming has included hockey games, news, talk shows, comedy<br />

shows, game shows, and various other <strong>Clarkson</strong> sporting events.<br />

<strong>Clarkson</strong> Radio (WTSC/WNTC) <strong>Clarkson</strong> Radio provides interested students with an opportunity to produce their own weekly radio<br />

programs, and consequently serve the community by <strong>of</strong>fering entertainment, news and weather,<br />

and special programming via the radio. WTSC <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> new and alternative music<br />

programs, while WNTC follows a predominately classic rock n’ roll format. <strong>Clarkson</strong> radio DJs<br />

are trained on broadcasting equipment and are taught the rules and regulations associated<br />

with broadcasting. Radio station directors assume responsibilities and leadership roles that<br />

provide practical experience for future endeavors. Public relations, advertising, recording<br />

engineering, business management are all opportunities available to <strong>Clarkson</strong>’s music-lovers<br />

through <strong>Clarkson</strong> Radio.<br />
