Healthy Heart class canceled<br />
<strong>The</strong> Healthy Heart class at Naval Health Clinic New<br />
England’s Wellness Clinic, scheduled for April 18 from 3 to<br />
4 p.m., is canceled, the public affairs office said.<br />
NAVSTA Earth Day cleanup<br />
All hands are encouraged to participate in the Naval<br />
Station <strong>Newport</strong> Earth Day base cleanup, April 11 to 15,<br />
when trash and debris will be collected across the naval<br />
complex.<br />
Earth Day draws attention to the environment, and<br />
service-members and civilians are welcome to get<br />
involved by contacting the Integrated Solid Waste/Recycling<br />
manager, Scott Mello at 841-2464; or Ensign Aaron<br />
Kotlarz at 841-6927 for information.<br />
Summer uniform shift April 25<br />
According to the COMNAVREGMIDLANT/SOPA<br />
(ADMIN) HRINST 1020.1A the summer uniform shift for<br />
Zone 2, which includes <strong>Newport</strong>, is April 25 at 0001.<br />
<strong>The</strong> instruction states: “a. <strong>The</strong> uniform of the day will be<br />
worn when personnel are not required to be in a working<br />
uniform. <strong>The</strong> uniform of the day is prescribed for administrative<br />
offices, watchstanding, liberty, and normal Conduct<br />
of business ashore.<br />
Summer Camp registration<br />
<strong>The</strong> Child and Youth Program, operated by the Morale,<br />
Welfare and Recreation Department, has announced<br />
summer camp registration is open to children of active<br />
duty personnel, DoD civilians and contractors, ages 5<br />
through 12<br />
Fees are paid weekly and are based on total fa<strong>mil</strong>y<br />
income. A nonrefundable $50 deposit is required at registration,<br />
as well as a $5 camp T-shirt fee.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re is no additional charge for field trips. Camp<br />
begins on Monday, June 27, and camp hours are 6:15 a.m.<br />
to 5:30 p.m.<br />
<strong>The</strong> registration schedule follows”<br />
• Currently - In-house patrons (children already registered<br />
in School Age Care Program).<br />
• April 11 — Children of active duty personnel.<br />
• April 18 — Children of DoD civilians and contractors.<br />
Registration packets are available at the Youth Center,<br />

Barber Shop being renovated<br />
Renovations at the <strong>Navy</strong> Exchange Barber Shop, to<br />
include a full interior renovation to update the equipment<br />
and décor, are underway. <strong>The</strong> project is scheduled to take<br />
approximately four weeks.<br />
A temporary barbershop location is just inside the Main<br />
Store across from Blimpies. No interruption of services<br />
during this period is expected.<br />
Boston bus excursion next week<br />
Information, Tickets and Travel is still accepting reservations<br />
for its motorcoach trip to Boston on Saturday,<br />
April 16. It includes round-trip transportation departing<br />
from Naval Station <strong>Newport</strong> at 9 a.m. and returning<br />
around 6 p.m.<br />
<strong>The</strong> cost is $15 per person and your tickets can be<br />
picked up at the Information, Tickets and Travel office or<br />
call 841-3116.<br />
