Continued review of the services providing<br />
equal access for all customers. Many of the<br />
services are equally available, some more than<br />
others e.g. assisted refuse and recycling<br />
collections for the disabled. Services are<br />
generally available during normal working times.<br />
Equal access to public spaces and council<br />
maintained premises for all members of the<br />
community carried through in the design of new<br />
projects and the improvement of existing<br />
facilities.<br />
Work with schools on waste and recycling<br />
issues and with “Resource Futures” who provide<br />
an educational programme through <strong>Devon</strong><br />

where practicably equal access is given to all<br />

Examples of these types of works are<br />
demonstrated by Property Services. Plans are<br />
well advanced to provide a new customer<br />
reception counter which is disability compliant at<br />
Ottery St Mary leisure centre. Similar alterations<br />
will then be carried out at Broadclyst leisure<br />
centre and probably Axminster leisure centre.<br />
In 2009 there were 26 school visits across the<br />
<strong>District</strong> educating young people on recycling<br />
and waste issues.<br />
Between January and October 2009 there were<br />
21 visits to community groups across the <strong>District</strong><br />
informing all ages on recycling and waste<br />
issues.<br />
During 2009, nine local schools have designed<br />
and planted various summer floral displays in<br />
Connaught gardens, Sidmouth and Manor<br />
grounds, Exmouth.<br />
Consultation has taken place with residents and<br />
young people on the design of play areas at<br />
King George VI playing field, Carter Avenue,<br />
Exmouth; Normans Crescent in Budleigh
