SPECIAL EVENTS • Boy Scout Braden Shelley, in an effort to earn his Eagle Scout, is holding a U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony at 7 p.m. July 21 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3459 East Cherokee Drive, Canton. Shelley will be conducting the ceremony, an official retirement. Shelley invites the community to attend and see something that’s not often seen. • The Cherokee County Historical Society is hosting “Using your local library to jump start your genealogy,” July 27 at 7 p.m. at the Rock Barn, 658 Marietta Highway, Canton.
