SWIMMERS: Billings among five county females to earn four state berths

Highlighting the efforts of the
county’s females, Finley Billings,
Ansley Davis, Lauren Wallin,
Emily Snyder and Kimberly Norton
each charted a pair of statequalifying
individual and relay
performances.
Billings captured the 13-14
girls’ 100 IM title with a time of
1:08.35, took second in the 50 Fly,
and teamed up with Rachel
Pelzek, Victoria Gordon and Macy
Tarlton for runner-up showings
in the 200 Medley and 200
Free relays, and Davis was second
in both the 9-10 girls’ 25 Fly
and 100 IM, combined with Emily
Voigt, Abigail Billings and Taylor
Shephard for first in the 100
Free Relay (1:05.05), and Olivia
The Macedonia 7U All-Stars
went undefeated on the
way to winning the Georgia

runner-up. Wallin also took second
in the 50 Free and third in the
50 Back, and Snyder placed second
in the 50 Breast and third in
the 100 IM.
As one of just four Cherokee 15-
18-year-olds to advance individually,
Norton was second in the 50
Free and third in the 100 Free.
She also swam the 200 Medley
and 200 Free relays with Julia
Amos, Irina Vogt and Kelsey
Achin, with both teams posting
second-place finishes.
Along with their relay showings,
Vogt took second in the 15-18
girls’ 50 Breast; Hughes won the
11-12 girls’ 50 Free (29.42); Tarlton
was third in the 13-14 girls’ 100
Free; Brown placed third in the
11-12 girls’ 100 Free; Emily Voigt

Completing the list of multiple
event top-three finishers for the
county, Grace Findlay placed second
in the 7-8 girls’ 25 Breast and
third in the 100 IM, and Eve Pepin
won the 7-8 girls’ 25 Back in 19.41.
The duo also paired up with Sydney
Rush and Nyah Hernandez
for a third-place time in the 100
Medley Relay.
Qualifying for state in an individual
event, Emma Gelatt won
the 7-8 girls’ 50 Free (39.39); Sarah
Erwin (15-18 girls’ 50 Back),
Thaddeus Palmer (9-10 boys’ 25
Fly) and Grace Drawdy (7-8 girls’
25 Fly) each placed second; and
Jonathan Bell (13-14 boys’ 50
Free), Russell Kaeser (13-14 boys’
100 IM), Elijah Woody (11-12 boys’
50 Back) and Dalton Trampnau
(9-10 boys’ 25 Back) all earned a
third-place finish.
The GRPA State Swimming
Championships will be held July
30-31 in Carrollton.
