• A Canton woman was taken
into custody July 14 on aggravated
assault, simple battery
and disorderly conduct
charges after she reportedly
drew a knife on two male
victims. According to the Canton
Police Department report,
Billie Girl McDougle Norwood,
23, was in a home with two
males when she reportedly became
upset with one of the male
victims over a cell phone charger
and grabbed a knife. When both
the males reportedly tried to
take the knife from her, they received
superficial wounds, the
report said. Upon striking the
two male victims, Norwood reportedly
fled the scene with her
young child. The report said Norwood
was confronted by officers
a short distance away and did
not have the knife. After being
placed into custody without incident,
Norwood was transported
to the Cherokee County jail.
• A Canton man reported
stolen and damaged property,
valued at $6,600, to the
Canton Police Department on
July 7. According to the report,
the man noticed an unknown
tool was used to break the driver’s
side door lock. According to
the report, upon searching the
vehicle, the victim noticed two
saxophones, valued at $2,500
and $3,500, missing from the
trunk. If anyone has any information,

• A Canton man was arrested
on July 9 for felony burglary
and drug possession charges.
According to reports from the
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office,
James Ensley, 26, entered
into the victim’s home through a
window that reportedly was left
partially open. Reportedly, when
the victim was at the store, Ensley
entered into the home and
took a pack of cigarettes and a

Five cabins burglarized, some items returned

Five seasonal cabins located at Hillhouse Lodge were burglarized on
July 13. According to reports from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office,
on July 12, a board member reportedly witnessed three teenagers
around the area at 4:30 p.m.; no unusual activity around the cabins was
observed. At 6 a.m. the following day, the witness was notified that a
boat belonging to one of the cabins was floating on the lake, the report
said. According to the report, the boat was returned and, upon
further inspection, forced entry was visible to five cabins. Public Information
Officer Lt. Jay Baker said it is believed that one of the suspects
suffered a severe cut to his hand or arm while breaking a window to
gain entry into one of the trailers due to a significant amount of blood
at the scene. According to Baker, several of the stolen items were returned.
Baker said the suspects are black male teens, and it is believed
they entered and exited the lakeside community through the
Bridgemill subdivision, where they may live. If anyone has any information

asked the suspect to open it. Inside,
deputies located the gun
and arrested Ensley for possession
of a firearm, the report
said. According to the report,
Ensley also had suspected marijuana
in his pocket.

Woodstock Knoll subdivision,

officer arrived on scene, a representative
of Toll Brothers, the
property owner, was present
and stated that a $1,800 double
oven, a handle to the downstairs
bathroom sink, and the cover of
a thermostat were stolen. The
report said visible forced entry
was noticed through a window,
and the glass windowpane was
located in the back of the house.
