JULY 21, 2010 NEWS THE CHEROKEE LEDGER-NEWS 15 FROM PAGE 4 Roundabout nearing completion BY JANET PELLETIER janetp@ledgernews.com Woodstock officials will allow construction crews to work into the late evening hours in an effort to speed up completion of the Haney Road roundabout so it doesn’t interfere with the start of school in just a few short weeks. At its meeting July 12, the Woodstock City Council gave community development director Richard McLeod the OK for the contractor installing the roundabout to extend working hours to 9 p.m. Previously, the workday stopped at 7 p.m. “We are working toward completion for Aug. 2,” McLeod said. While the extra night hours will help, McLeod added that there’s not a 100 percent guarantee the project will be finished before the first day of classes, which is Aug. 2. He said the schools have already been directed to use alternative routes if necessary. The city began on the roundabout in early June, temporarily closing off Main Street just Johnston said the consultant that helps with the pool designs can help determine whether pool entrance fees or family memberships will be sold and can also determine what swimming pool configuration would be the best. “The absolute Cadillac would be a 25 yard by 50 meter pool, an adjacent warm-up warm-down pool and an outdoor pool,” Johnston said. “We will have to see what we can afford. Wentzel is the owner of Hot Dog Heaven in downtown Woodstock, and said in her resume, “I am deeply devoted to the children of Cherokee County,” she said. Wentzel is a member of several PTAs in the county, and has grown children and three grandchildren. She said she received a lifetime achievement award from Cobb County Schools.
