<strong>Tour</strong> <strong>back</strong> <strong>in</strong> Germany.<br />
<strong>Berenberg</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> as Germany’s oldest private bank and Langer Sport<br />
Market<strong>in</strong>g are br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>European</strong> <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> <strong>back</strong> to Germany<br />
follow<strong>in</strong>g a ten-year hiatus.<br />
The <strong>Berenberg</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> <strong>Masters</strong> will take place from 17 to 19 June <strong>2011</strong> at the renowned<br />
Cologne Golf and Land Club <strong>in</strong> Cologne-Refrath. With a prize money of 400,000 euros, it<br />
is one of the most attractive events <strong>in</strong> the <strong>European</strong> tournament calendar.<br />
In Bernhard Langer, act<strong>in</strong>g as organiser of the event and ambassador for the tournament,<br />
those <strong>in</strong> charge have found a high-class crowd puller to tee off at the <strong>in</strong>augural<br />
tournament. The exceptional sportsman from Anhausen, Bavaria, who is currently the<br />
most successful athlete <strong>in</strong> senior golf, will face extremely strong competition <strong>in</strong> June <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
Apart from the 53-year-old, the group of players is expected to be jo<strong>in</strong>ed by golf<br />
celebrities like Ian Woosnam (Wales), Sam Torrance and Sandy Lyle (both from<br />
Scotland), Mark James (England), Des Smyth (Ireland) as well as Costant<strong>in</strong>o Rocca<br />
(Italy).<br />
Headquartered <strong>in</strong> Hamburg, <strong>Berenberg</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> was founded <strong>in</strong> 1590 and is Germany’s<br />
oldest bank. March 2010 marked the first time for <strong>Berenberg</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> to appear <strong>in</strong> public as<br />
title sponsor for a tournament of the <strong>European</strong> <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> <strong>in</strong> Fancourt, South Africa. “The<br />
<strong>European</strong> <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> offers excit<strong>in</strong>g golf and the chance to meet sport idols close up,”<br />
says Dr Hans-Walter Peters, spokesperson for the personally liable partners of the private<br />
bank. “We are delighted that we managed to br<strong>in</strong>g <strong>back</strong> this series to Germany after a<br />
hiatus of ten years.”
Langer Sport Market<strong>in</strong>g is a lead<strong>in</strong>g company for the organisation of golf sport events <strong>in</strong><br />
Germany and Cont<strong>in</strong>ental Europe. Apart from the <strong>2011</strong> <strong>Berenberg</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> <strong>Masters</strong>, it will<br />
host the Casa Serena Open <strong>in</strong> the Czech Republic for the fourth consecutive time. Langer<br />

and <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> the organisation of tournaments like the Ladies German Open.<br />
With the <strong>Berenberg</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> <strong>Masters</strong>, the Langer brothers, after the end of the Mercedes-<br />
Benz Championship at GC Gut Lärchenhof, are aga<strong>in</strong> present<strong>in</strong>g a professional golf<br />
tournament at the highest level <strong>in</strong> North Rh<strong>in</strong>e-Westphalia. The golf course of the Cologne<br />
Golf and Country Club is among the most traditional courses <strong>in</strong> Germany and has already<br />
been the venue of many a big tournament. Among others, it has already staged the<br />
German Open, the <strong>in</strong>ternational amateur championships as well as the Hennessy Ladies<br />
Cup. The appeal of the parkland course located to the east of the metropolis on the Rh<strong>in</strong>e<br />
lies <strong>in</strong> its optical attractions and its excellent condition.<br />
