magement. Part II will draw from the<br />
social sciences faculty for its speakers.<br />
Two of the upcoming lectures will focus<br />
on '"The Battle for the Mind," and<br />
A "Education and Politics."<br />
Like the University, SCCC operates a<br />
writing center, reading center and a math<br />
lab available to students on a drop-in, no<br />
fee basis. Professionals staff these offices.<br />
Also available to help students in their<br />
academic endeavors is the Educational<br />
Opportunities Program. The staff of this<br />
program advises new students and makes<br />
sure that they seek out the services that<br />
are available to them to help them succeed<br />
in college.<br />
The college has also just published a<br />
booklet - titled PASS, or Personal<br />
Academic Survival Strategies. The<br />
booklet is designed to help students improve<br />
their study techniques. It includes<br />
self-evaluation materials and listings of<br />
places where specific assistance is<br />
available.<br />
Another way in which the college is<br />
helping students academically is through<br />
the College Seminar Program, a program<br />
that is mandated for students who have<br />
been channeled into developmental<br />
