JCB takes the lead
on Cesar marking
for breakers
JCB has stepped up the battle against construction equipment
theft by announcing that seven models in its Hammermaster
hydraulic breaker ranges are to get CESAR marking as standard.
The move means JCB, which was the
first major manufacturer to make
CESAR standard on its construction
range in 2007, is the only company
to offer the anti-theft marking
system on its breakers in the UK.
Paul Hartshorn, Director and General
Manager of JCB Attachments, said:
“This move is in direct response to
our customers, who have asked
us to come up with an effective
anti-theft deterrent for their
breakers. Theft of attachments is an
ever-growing and often uninsurable
problem for our customers that is
having a big impact. By registering
the breakers with CESAR we
are aligning our hammers with
the JCB carrier machines which
are already protected by CESAR
and Datatag technology.”
Datatag has developed a special
marking system to cope with the
demanding application and working
conditions that a hydraulic breaker
will encounter. This includes a
tamper evident triangular registration
plate, with a unique number for
each breaker. Radio frequency
identification (RFID) transponders are
installed on the hammer, along with
uniquely numbered ultra-destruct
labels with additional covert marking.
More Height for Liebherr
Lattice Boom Mobile Crane
In 2004 Liebherr brought the most powerful lattice
boom mobile crane in the world onto the market
Ð the LG 1750. Eight years later, and it still holds
this record Ð and has no competitors in this class.
Right from the start, the erection of
wind power installations was a key
area of operations for the 750 tonner,
but the weights of the systems
and the installation heights have
been steadily increasing since then.
Liebherr has been keeping pace with
this trend with the development of
longer and stronger boom systems.
With a new and even more powerful
boom system, designated the
SL12D2FB, the LG 1750 is now in
a position to erect the new large
types of wind power systems at
tower heights from 140m to 150m.
In terms of design, the new system
is derived from the tried and trusted
SL9D2FB boom, a main boom with a
fixed jib and derrick system. Thanks
to the use of three strong 12-m
lattice sections with a width of 3.5
instead of 3.0 m in the lower area of
the main boom, and the extension of
the fixed jib, both the lifting capacity
and the height under hook have been
boosted on the new SL12 system.
The LG 1750 can now achieve lifts of
141 tonnes at the height under hook
of 143 m and 97 tonnes at 160 m.
New Doosan Excavator Buckets and Quick Couplers
Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment has extended its range of attachments for excavators
with a new line of heavy duty buckets and quick couplers manufactured in Europe.
The new attachments, which
are intended for all markets in
Europe, Middle East and Africa,
can be mounted quickly and
easily, providing cost-effective
and productive solutions for
a number of applications,
including digging, trenching,
loading, mining and quarrying.
Available in a variety of sizes, the
new attachments are approved
for use on Doosan excavators
from 14 to 70 tonne. Each size
of attachment is engineered in
accordance with the specifications
of the matching Doosan excavator
to ensure the highest performance,
efficiency and stability.
With the introduction of the new
Doosan bucket and quick coupler
range, customers benefit from an
extended one-stop-shop approach
for carriers, attachments and parts
from Doosan, which is available via
the comprehensive Doosan dealer
and service network in EMEA.
Rammer branded products return
Rammer, the brand synonymous with hydraulic hammers and attachments, is set to make
a welcome return as Sandvik Construction announces a multi-brand strategy.
Through the reintroduction of
Sandvik owned Rammer branded
products Sandvik will be able
to serve a wider customer base
through the use of differing breaker
focused distribution channels.
The Rammer brand was withdrawn
in 2007, when the entire Breaker
Lahti product line came under the
Sandvik Mining and Construction
umbrella. As a key part of the
Sandvik brand the Breakers Lahti
facility has remained at the forefront
of hydraulic breaker innovation,
directly benefiting from Sandvik’s
experience and know-how.
In recent years the entire product
range has been updated; with
all development benefiting from
customer need based designs and
solutions aimed at maximizing the
uptime of the unit. Now however
the famous Rammer name is to be
reinforced by Sandvik in a move
that is a unique part of Sandvik’s
new multi-brand strategy.
“For more than 30 years Rammer
enjoyed a level of brand loyalty
that is virtually unique in the
field of construction equipment.
And that popularity has never
decreased,” says Ola Ulmala, Vice
President of PA Breaking. “Our
hydraulic hammer and attachment
customers in the construction,
demolition and quarrying sectors
let us know that they would
welcome the return of the Rammer
brand, and, as a customer-focused
company, it is our duty to give
those customers what they want.”
Rammer-branded hammers and
attachments will be available mainly
to customers in the construction,
demolition and quarrying sectors
through existing distribution
channels. For customers within
the mining or large quarrying
sectors, or requiring breakers
as part of a Sandvik turnkey
package, fully supporting existing
Sandvik Branded solutions and
arrangements will remain mainly
served through direct channels.
