T H E K R K S T O R Y
Keith Klawitter, our director of engineering, founded KRK
Systems in 1986. He had been an engineer for years working
on such films as "Brainstorm" and "The Doors". Frustrated by
the inability to find a monitor that could give him clarity and
accuracy, he began building his own monitors. Other engineers
and producers began to take notice of Keith's high-end studio
monitors, a groundswell began and a company was born.
The millennium has brought changes and growth to the
company. KRK has become one of the most highly respected
names in the studio world. Our products have earned an
exclusive position along side the most elite audiophile-quality
products. The finest components are combined with superior
cabinet design, driver technology, crossover interfacing, and
amplifier technology. For example our 5.1 surround systems are
tolerance matched to within 0.05dB!
KRK is now a Stanton company, and this gives us room to grow
and achieve new heights. We're very excited about what the
future holds.
The bottom line is your ears. We do exhaustive listening tests to
insure what's being recorded or mixed is exactly what you're
hearing through the monitors. In translation - When you use
KRK speakers, you don't get any surprises listening to your mix
in a real world listening environment.
"It's the vision of capturing the pure essence of sound, our real
studio experience and our fanatical attention to quality that
gives KRK its edge."
KRK Road Tests:
Bob Clearmountain
Engineer/Producer
“The KRK
Exposé monitors are absolutely amazing! They’re self powered
and bi-amped. They’re not “hype-y” at all, but fun to listen to.
Great for mixing- and parties.”
President MCA recording, Nashville
“The sonic accuracy is unsurpassed!”
Simon Climie
Producer for Eric Clapton
“Whatever
studio I’m working in - in the world, I always insist on KRK
exclusively for my monitoring.”
Mitch Gallagher
Keyboard
“The V8’s responded exactly the
effect and dimension I sought to achieve in the original mix.”

7000B
P A S S I V E M O N I T O R S
Now in its second generation, the 7000B offers improved frequency response and lower distortion. The
7000B's use Kevlar tweeters and woofers for extremely quick response without unnecessarily moving excess
air, thus eliminating disfigured sound reproductions. To further enhance the 7000B's accuracy, its cabinet
features a phase alignment design. Because high frequencies travel faster, the low frequency driver is placed
closer to the listener. The result is the low and high frequencies reaching the listener at the same time. Due
to the larger woofer and enclosure, the bass response extends lower than the 6000. Video shielding is
optional.
Passive or active, that is not the question...Many have made the investment of a high-quality
studio amplifier. There's no reason to not use your existing amp and upgrade your passive
monitors. The KRK 6000's are a high-resolution compact monitor prescribed for all near-field
applications. Weighing a convenient 15 lbs. each, the portable 6000 combines extremely
smooth frequency response with very low distortion. Modestly priced, it derives its sonic attributes
from the ever-popular Model 7000B, sharing the same specially designed 1" inverted
S8
The latest in our subwoofer line, the S8 is ideal for small areas. The S8 construction consists of 3/4" MDF,
which reduces resonance diminishing coloration to provide a more even sound. Like it's predecessors the
S12 and S10, the S8 has radiused corners and edges, and a slotted port to give you tighter bass. One of
the features of the S8 is a variable low pass filter that enables you to tailor the crossover point to match
satellite monitors. The phase switch also gives you flexibility in room placement. Matched with 5 - V4's, it's
the perfect surround solution for limited space.
Exposé E8T New For 2003!
Mixing is always easy when you’re listening to the truth. The E8 T’s uncompromised design combines
2 fully complementary symmetric discrete power amplifiers with an active crossover, an inverted
dome Tioxid tweeter and a special double-woven Kevlar woofer. Much more sophisticated than typical
power amplifiers, the Expose’ E8T uses a “purist” amplifier design that would be perfectly at
home in the finest esoteric hi-fi systems. Every aspect of the E8T has been engineered to deliver accurate,
truthful audio; from the quality of the internal components to the shape of the cabinet.
“The search is over...I’ve found a pair of speakers that I’m completely happy with. In the past, I’ve had to settle for speakers
that are flawed in some way...too lumpy in the bottom end...too brittle in the top. The Expose’s are in a league of their own.
I actually thought I’d never find a set of speakers that I would truly be happy with, but these are it for me.”
Everyone’s heading towards 5.1 mixes, whether they’re soundtracks for Dolby Digital (AC-3) or DTS, or
music-only to audio DVD. In fact, our customers tell us the move from traditional 2 speaker stereo mixing
to surround sound will impact virtually every studio in the near future. Because each studio is unique, KRK
offers many different Orbital Surround Sound solutions to fit your space and budget require-
5.1 mix. A full-range signal is sent to the 5 channels, so all speakers should be the same.
Press play, close your eyes, sit back and sense where the bass player is standing, sense how high the drum
kit is on it's riser, feel subtle strokes of the guitar player as he delicately stokes an acoustic 12-string. Now
open your eyes and notice the KRK V8's reproducing the most accurate sound of any active monitor in its
class. The V8 uses a separate power amplifier for the tweeter and woofer with an active crossover so that
the power and frequency response is tailored to each transducer. The V8's Kevlar woofer is extremely
fast and does not have audio band resonance's that color the sound. At the input stage,
the V8 is capable of receiving balanced or an unbalanced signal. A Neutrik Combo
M2-18 New For 2003!
Simply put, the M2-18 is one of the most powerful, dynamic, accurate and (did we mention) loud studio
monitors ever conceived. As we all know, modern music is rich in sub-harmonic detail and today’s listener
demands that the low-end is loud and tight. With the ability to handle over 2300 watts of low end alone,
the M2-18 system raises the benchmark in the “Very Large Format” class of studio monitors. The 2x10”
midrange drivers and the 1” carbon fiber compression drivers render immaculate mids and highs creating
a system where the whole truly is greater than the sum of the parts. This is a system of stunning proportion,
over-engineering and flawless vision.
Mounted in wall soffitts or freestanding, the M2-18 is perfect for any
