The main contradiction in the school leadership was the balance of the demands<br />

as set up by the various players from the community. The principal has to follow<br />

the rules and guidelines as stipulated by the ministry and, at the same time, take<br />

into account the opinions of the other significant players in the activity system (as<br />

in the community and division of labour), as shown by the lightning-shaped arrows<br />

in Figure 5.<br />
