ABSTRACT
In the Començaments de medicina Llull uses a technique which, in this work
as well as in others, he calls “metaphoric”, and which permits him to connect its
medical and scientific contents with considerations of a moral and theological
nature, a kind of association used constantly during the quaternary phase of
Llull’s production. The aim of this article is to investigate the logical and rhetorical
foundations on which this process is based, while pointing out its central
role as an epistemological tool and relating it to the later development of his
Artistic system.
