¿cómo explicar esto que está ocurriendo hoy?, porque, ya sabemos ...

Que los artistas hondureños hoy en día tienen que
convivir con condiciones socioculturales, históricas,
políticas complicadas, es cierto. Y que la agenda cultural
de Honduras y de otros espacios de Latinoamérica y el
Caribe tiene varios puntos pendientes, es también cierto.
De todas maneras hay que decir que la plástica en
Honduras está urgida de programas más amplios, más
coherentes, que aúnen voluntades y hagan posible la
esperanza.
Pero ya ese horizonte se siente más próximo que
veinte años atrás. El acierto estará en vigorizar caminos
emprendidos y en prefigurar otros que continúen
complementando el proceso indetenible y necesario de
la cultura artística.
Cuando ya tengo que cerrar estos largos capítulos,
me siguen quedando muchas preguntas y casi ninguna
respuesta. Es como si necesitara evitar la palabra “fin”;
es que estos asuntos no terminan aquí, para nada. Sé
que es difícil, pero hay mucho en juego.
Quede pues este texto a la merced de los inquietos,
de los curiosos, de los comprometidos, de los que
anhelan, e incluso de los ofendidos.

It is true that Honduran artists today must live with
complicated sociocultural, historical, and political
situations. And that the Honduran cultural agenda and
other Latin American and Caribbean spaces have various
points pending is also true.
At any rate we must say that plastic arts in Honduras
is in urgent need of broader more coherent programs,
that combine wills and make hope possible.
But that horizon now feels closer than twenty years
ago. The correct thing would be to invigorate passages
already begun and in anticipating others that continue
complementing the unstoppable and necessary process
of artistic culture.
Now that I have to close these long chapters, I am left
with many questions and few answers. It’s as if I were
avoiding the word “end”; it’s because these issues do
not finish here, not at all. I know that it is difficult, but
there is much at stake. This text is left at the mercy of
the inquisitive, the curious, the committed, of those who
yearn, and even of those who are offended.
