and of America as well. Santa Rosa de
Lima is venerated each August 30th.
Beautiful paintings representing instances
of the life of the first saint woman in
America are kept in the church erected
in her honor.
SAN FRANCISCO
His festivity takes place on October
24th in Yavi, Puna.
SAN FRANCISCO SOLANO
Vice Patron of Americ and Patron
of folklore. The festivities in his name
take place in Tumbaya and Humahuaca.
VIRGEN DEL ROSARIO DE RIO
BLANCO Y PAYPAYA
Is one of the most prominent religious
manifestations in Jujuy’s province. The
festivity of la Virgen del Rosario y Paypaya
summons thousands of pilgrims
who walk to the shrine from different
regions as an act of Faith. The shrine is
located in Rio Blanco, 7 km from San
Salvador de Jujuy and every Sunday of
October a pilgrimage to the shrine will
take place. The cult to the Virgen de
Rosario y Paypaya has its origins in the
colonial period and many miracles are
attributed to her.

el día 15 de agosto, en el pueblo de
Canchillas, Departamento Santa Catalina.
SANTA ROSA DE LIMA
Es la patrona del pueblo de Purmamarca,
donde es venerada cada 30 de
agosto. En la iglesia levantada en su
honor, se guardan cuadros que representan
instancias de la vida de la
primer Santa Americana, patrona de
América..
SAN FRANCISCO
El día 24 de octubre se realiza la
veneración del Santo en la localidad
puneña de Yavi.
SAN FRANCISCO SOLANO
Vicepatrono de América y Pa
trono del folklore. Se lo recuerda en
Tumbaya y Humahuaca.,
VIRGEN DEL ROSARIO DE
RÍO BLANCO Y PAYPAYA
Es otra de las manifestaciones religiosas
más destacadas en la provincia
y convoca a miles de peregrinos
que llegan caminando desde distintos
puntos de la provincia renovando
sus promesas de fe. El santuario
se levanta en la localidad de Río
Blanco, a 7 kilómetros de la capital
jujeña y cada domingo de octubre
congrega nuevos promesantes. Se le
reconocen númerosos milagros y su
culto viene desde la época colonial.
