“Celebration of the month
of Hispanic Heritage”
Iris Gálvez
The Corridor was designated the official neighborhood of Los Angeles
in 2012 and community members have now raised funds to install
signs at the Vermont Avenue Highway exit
The Salvadoran community
is experiencing the
historical moment of the
great unveiling of the
signs that will signal the
Salvadoran Corridor, the only Salvadoran
Zone now recognized by
the government of California, said
signage will be installed at the East
and West exits of Vermont Avenue
on Highway 1-10 which will designate
the exit to the Community Corridor
of El Salvador, it extends along
Vermont Avenue from 11th Street to
West Adams Blvd. in the Pico Union
district of Los Angeles, where more
than 300,000 Salvadoran immigrants
live and work.
The Corridor was designated the official
Los Angeles neighborhood in
2012 and community members have
now raised funds to install signs at
the Vermont Avenue Highway exit
to provide that sense of identity towards
our culture, mentioning that
the Corridor has dozens of restaurants,
shops and even Salvadoran
street vendors.
“This signaling is historic, particularly
at this time when the immigrant
community of El Salvador and other
Central American communities
have been attacked”; said Óscar
Domínguez, president of the Chamber
of Commerce of El Corredor de
El Salvador.
“Interstate 10 is one of the busiest
roads in the United States and this
will give us the opportunity not only
to increase visitors and tourism in
our neighborhood, but also to recognize
the great contributions of
Salvadorans to our city.”
Likewise, in the Salvadoran Corridor
different activities will be carried
out with participating companies as
sponsors of the event, one of the
main companies is our official sponsor:
DOLAN LAW FIRM, a very important
and recognized law firm in
Los Angeles, who have placed their
trust in our work and believe in our
ideals to develop this event and
commemorate our independence
based on the Hispanic heritage that
identifies us.
The call is for Salvadorans, companies
and entities to join to achieve
objectives of recognition and Hispanic
pride to join us to celebrate
these important achievements that
identify us as a community made up
of people who together work for the
recognition of our roots.
