Summary :
The main goal of that study was to asses’ epidemiologic and semiologic aspects of
irritable bowel syndrome in referral centers of Bamako. It was six month transversal
study from June to November 2006.
104 patients out of 487 were enrolled given inclusion criteria, with 21,35 % frequency.
The wean age was 30,5 + 11,5years.
Age between 16 to 26 years were predominant with 45,2 %.
Sex Ratio was 0,5 for female.
Abdominal pain (97,1%) ; Bloating(51,9%) and constipation(45,2%) were the
common signs.
Given the long life of the disease there are some economic, social and professional
repercussion, with absenteeism and low productivity.
This, most of the patients have disorder since many years, and have undergone many
costly examination anal treatment.
