Les Chorégies d'Orange C'est le plus ancien festival français puisqu'il fut créé en1869. Son nom vient du grec « choreos », en référence au lieu dans lequel se déroule la manifestation, le Théâtre Antique, rattachant ainsi ce festival de musique classique et d'opéra à la tradition des spectacles à l'époque gallo-romaine. Aujourd'hui, le bâtiment peut accueillir 8300 personnes sur l'hémicycle de ses gradins, nombre assez proche de sa capacité d'origine. C'est aujourd'hui l'un des plus importants festivals de France et il peut s'enorgueillir de jouir d'une excellente réputation au niveau international. This is the oldest French festival since it was created in 1869. Its name comes from the Greek "choreos", in reference to the place where the event takes place, the Roman Theatre, linking the festival of classical music and opera to the tradition of shows from the Gallo-Roman era. Today, the building can accommodate 8,300 people on the terraced stands, a number close enough to its original capacity. It is today one of the most important festivals in France, and enjoys an excellent reputation on the international level. 30
