No Happily Ever After
Le parc d’Anja est une accumulation de blocs rocheux
gigantesques qui forment les points hauts dominant
du site, qui offre toutefois, une forêt regroupant des
lémuriens, des grenouilles ainsi que des caméléons.
La légende raconte que c'est là que trois princesses
se sont rebellées sans fin heureuse à leur histoire.
A
u XVIIIème siècle, les grottes et les cavernes
de ce site ont été occupées par les ancêtres
qui voulaient échapper aux guerres tribales.
Plus tard, durant la période monarchique,
les montagnes ont été nommées « Izy telo
mirahavavy » (les trois princesses), en souvenir de trois
princesses Betsileo à la destinée peu commune. En effet,
d’après la légende locale, Anja a été occupé par un roi de la
tribu Betsileo ; Ihandrambaky, Andrambola, et Ambohalady
ont été ses trois filles. Afin que le roi puisse renforcer sa
relation avec son homologue Vezo, un accord entre les
deux royaumes aurait été conclu : il aurait été convenu
que les trois princesses devaient se marier aux trois fils
du roi Vezo. Mais les trois filles Betsileo se révoltèrent
et refusèrent catégoriquement toute forme de mariage
arrangé même pour renforcer la puissance du royaume de
leur père. Intransigeant, leur père ne leur donna pas raison.
Les princesses se mirent alors d’accord pour mettre fin à
leurs jours en sautant du sommet d’Anja en même temps !
D'où le nom « Izy telo mirahavavy », en souvenir de leur acte.
The park of Anja consists of an accumulation
of huge granite rocks forming the high points
overlooking the site with, also, a forest, home
to lemurs, frogs and chameleons. Legend has
it that it is where three princesses rebelled with
no happily after ending to their story.
In the 18th century, the caves and caverns of the
site were occupied by ancestors wishing to escape
from the tribal wars of the time. Later, during
Madagascar’s period of monarchy, the mountains
were given the name of ‘Izy telo mirahavavy’ (the
three princesses), in memory of the three Betsileo
princesses who met a strange fate. According to local
legend, Anja was occupied by a king of the Betsileo
tribe; Ihandrambaky, Andrambola and Ambohalady
were his three daughters. To reinforce relations
with his fellow monarch of the Vezo tribe, the three
princesses were to marry the three sons of the Vezo
king. But the three Betsileo daughters rebelled and
absolutely refused any form of arranged marriage, even
though it meant that their father's kingdom would be
strengthened. Their father refused to compromise and
insisted. The three princesses made a pact, agreeing
that they would commit suicide by leaping all together
off the peak of Anja! The name ‘Izy telo mirahavavy’
was given in memory of their action.
