A Walker’s Paradise Chi ama camminare, imparerà ad amare Merano. La rete
di 18 chilometri di passeggiate che irradia la città, invita a
tranquille camminate e a pause ristoratrici. Il titolo di
“città giardino” è merito del verde che brilla nei numerosi
parchi e delle sculture naturali che puntellano i tracciati, a
partire dal tratto centrale della Passeggiata lungo il fiume
Passirio (“Kurpromenade”), così come dalla romantica
Passeggiata Gilf che serpeggiando si congiunge alla Passeggiata
Tappeiner: a 380 metri di altezza, tre chilometri
tile sulle vette che circondano la città, raggiungibili velocemente
con i vari impianti di risalita. L’Alta Via Meranese
è un circuito di 80 chilometri che si sviluppa a quota 3.000
metri nel meraviglioso scenario del Parco Naturale del
Tessa, percorribile in sette-otto tappe giornaliere. Mentre
Merano 2000 (dotato della nuova, avveniristica funivia) è
comprensorio sciistico d’inverno e con la bella stagione si
trasforma in un eldorado per escursioni in alta quota, dove
fra l’altro si può provare la “scossa” di una discesa a bordo
dell’Alpin Bob, lanciati a 40 km/h tra i boschi.
Walkers will learn to love Merano. The 18-km network
of paths in and around the city offers quiet walks and
refreshing breaks. Called the “garden city”, this name
is fully merited on account of the greenery that thrives
in the many parks and of the natural sculptures along
the routes, from the central promenade along the
River Passirio (the “Kurpromenade”), or the romantic
Gilf walk that links up with the Tappeiner walk: from
a height of 380 metres, this 3-km route gives you a
panorama over the bowl in which Merano lies. There
are also spectacular views to be had along the “Waalwege”,
the quiet paths along the ancient channels that
are still used to irrigate the vineyards and orchards dotting
the landscape. As a tribute to Sissi’s passion for
walking, a route named after her joins the city centre
to Trauttmansdorff Castle (a former residence of the
Austrian Empress), leading past ivy-covered residences
and silent estates. Those wanting more of a challenge
will find fertile ground on the mountain summits surrounding
the city, which can also easily be reached via

be completed in 7-8 days. Merano 2000, with its new,
futuristic cabin lift, is a ski area in winter which in summer
becomes an El Dorado for mountain hikes, where
you can also enjoy the thrills of the Alpin Bob, racing
down through the trees at speeds of up to 40 km/h.
