Culture and Tradition Il calendario meranese è per tradizione un susseguirsi di
manifestazioni. Intorno al 1900, quando la città divenne località
di soggiorno tra le più rinomate d’Europa, il Kurhaus
era già elegante cornice di eventi. Oggi ospita congressi,
esposizioni, balli, ma anche e soprattutto concerti, tra cui
quelli delle Settimane Musicali Meranesi, festival di musica
classica con orchestre e direttori di spessore internazionale.
Alcuni dei castelli che troneggiano sulla città sono
invece stati riconvertiti in musei. Un esempio è Castel Ti-
spirare la tradizione, le occasioni più adatte sono le corse
rusticane dei cavalli Haflinger, all’Ippodromo, e la Festa
dell’Uva, inno ai costumi e alle usanze del luogo. Se invece
si pensa alla tavola allora ci si indirizza sul “Törggelen”,
merenda-rito d’autunno con prodotti tipici, speck, formaggio
e vino. A proposito di vino: il Merano WineFestival è
un viaggio alla scoperta del meglio dell’enologia nazionale
e mondiale. Si svolge a inizio novembre e apre la strada alla
magia dell’Avvento sprigionata dal Mercatino, fiaba che da
vent’anni ammanta il Natale a Merano.
The Merano calendar is, by tradition, a long series of
events. Around 1900, when the city was becoming one
of Europe’s most celebrated resorts, the Kurhaus was
already an elegant venue. Today it hosts conferences,
exhibitions, dances, but above all concerts, including
the Merano Music Weeks, a festival of classical music
with orchestras and directors of international renown.
Some of the castles that stand above the city have also
been converted into museums. One example is Castle
Tyrol, the former residence of the Counts of Tyrol, now
home to the province’s historical and cultural museum;
another is Trauttmansdorff Castle, which relates the
story of the development of tourism in South Tyrol and
is surrounded by Gardens featuring some 80 different
botanical environments. The Women’s Museum offers
a female perspective on history, while contemporary
culture can be found in Merano arte where emerging
local artists alternate with famous names. For a deeper
experience of tradition, visit the Haflinger horse
races at the racecourse or the Grape Festival, a cel-
rolo, antica residenza dei conti del Tirolo, sede del museo
storico-culturale della provincia; un altro è Castel Trauttmansdorff
nelle cui sale si racconta l’evoluzione del turismo
in Alto Adige. Attorno al maniero si distende un Giardino
dove lussureggianti splendono 80 ambienti botanici.
Percorsi attraverso la storia, in questo caso al femminile, si
possono compiere al Museo della Donna, mentre espressione
della cultura contemporanea è Merano arte dove si
avvicendano emergenti autori locali e firme celebri. Per re-
