Eclettico pittore di “calligrafie” ispirate a scritture<br />
orientali, saggista, romanziere, poeta sonoro e<br />
inventore sui generis, Brion Gysin (1916-1986)<br />
ha perfezionato alla fine dei Cinquanta con<br />
l’amico William S. Burroughs la tecnica di<br />
collage letterario del “cut-up”. Col tecnico Ian<br />
Sommerville ha ideato nel 1961 la Dreamachine,<br />
un’opera cinetica luminosa da guardare ad occhi<br />
chiusi. Questo “poema permutativo” è tratto dal<br />
libretto Minutes To Go (1968), contenente anche esperimenti di cut-up<br />
di Burroughs, Sinclair Beiles e Gregory Corso.<br />

Eclectic painter of “calligraphies” inspired by eastern writings,<br />
essayist, novelist, sound poet and inventor, Brion Gysin (1916-1986)<br />
perfected the literary collage “cut-up” technique with his friend<br />
William S. Burroughs at the end of the 50's. With the technician Ian<br />
Sommerville he devised in 1961 the Dreamachine, a luminous kinetic<br />
device to be watched with the eyes shut. This “permutation poem” is<br />
extracted from the booklet Minutes to Go (1968), which also contains<br />
cut-up experiments by Burroughs, Sinclair Beiles and Gregory Corso.<br />
