I versi di Michael McClure (n. 1932), anche
commediografo e romanziere, hanno la precisa
e spontanea organicità di una canzone poprock
(suo è tra gli altri il testo di Mercedes
Benz, cantata da Janis Joplin). Nel 1955,
giovanissimo, il poeta è stato tra i protagonisti
dello storico reading alla Six Gallery di San
Francisco in cui Ginsberg ha tenuto a
battesimo Howl. In seguito, ha declamato il

The verses of Michael McClure (born in 1932), also playwright and
novelist, possess that spontaneous and precise character of a pop-rock
tune (he also wrote the lyrics for Janis Joplin's Mercedes Benz). In
1955, still very young, he was one of the protagonists of the historical
reading at the Six Gallery in San Francisco where Ginsberg ushered in
Howl. He then recited the Ghost Tantra cycle to the lions of San
Francisco's zoo. LOVE FOR THE FOOL THAT I AM appeared in 1976
in the magazine The Unspeakable Visions of the Individual.
