Lenore Kandel (1932-2009) è stata immortalata da
Kerouac sulle pagine di Big Sur col nome di
Ramona Schwartz. L’autrice è assurta agli onori
delle cronache nel 1965 quando il suo libretto di
poesie The Love Book è stato sequestrato con
l’accusa di pornografia dalle autorità di San
Francisco. Enlightenment Poem è tra i suoi testi
inclusi nell’antologia Women of the Beat Generation (1996).

Kandel (1932-2009) was immortalized by Kerouac on the pages of Big
Sur under the name of Ramona Schwartz. She became popular in 1965
when her booklet of poems The Love Book was confiscated by the San
Francisco authorities under a pornography charge. Enlightenment
Poem is among the texts of her included in the anthology Women of the
Beat Generation (1996).
