Bucher, da Olschki a Data, Cinelli, Ferri Ricchi,
Castagnini, il recordman Pellizzari ed anche due
medaglie d’oro al Valor Militare come Frassetto
e Rocca.
Tema del convegno: “L’editoria periodica nella
storia della subacquea italiana”, organizzato e
gestito come è ormai tradizione dal nostro vicepresidente
Federico de Strobel, che nel suo intervento
introduttivo ha ricostruito storicamente gli
albori di tale attività nel primo dopoguerra,
rievocando i pionieristici articoli apparsi sulle
riviste “Italia venatoria-Sport subacqueo” e
“Pescasport”.
Gli “Annual Awards 2001” sono andati alla
memoria a Gianni Roghi - ritirato dalla figlia
Tullia-, pioniere del giornalismo subacqueo,
scrittore ed esploratore notissimo, scomparso nel
1967 in seguito alla ferita infertagli casualmente
da un elefante nel corso d’una spedizione scientifica
tra i pigmei d’Africa; e a Franco
Capodarte, per oltre vent’anni, dal 1963, a
“Mondo Sommerso”, prima come redattore
capo, poi come direttore responsabile, e quindi
capo del “pool subacqueo” della RAI. Capodarte
perfectly on time in the main hall of the “Istituto

Italian Firemen are trained; Alberto Arrighi, MP
of his political party (AN) was there too. He presented
a bill which should regulate underwater
and hyperbaric activities, which scuba experts
have been longing for a long time; Leslie Leaney
the President of the Historical Diving Society
USA greeted the participants also on behalf of
HDS Mexico and Canada. Our Honorary
President, Luigi Ferraro, played also the role of
co-author of a book (together with the engineer
Giorgio Chimenti, provincial commander of the
Fireman of Genoa and for long time diver
instructor and executive). The book is entitled
“Una fiamma negli abissi - Storia del Servizio
Sommozzatori dei Vigili del Fuoco” (A flame in
the abyss - History of The Diver Division of the
Firemen), published by IRECO in its usual beautiful
edition, and dedicated to the 50 th anniversary
of this special division, created in 1952 by
Commander Ferraro himself. Besides our honorary
President other renowned persons were
present: from Quilici to Bucher to Olschki, Data,
Cinelli, Ferri Ricchi, Castagnini, the recordman
Pellizzari and even the two Gold Medal for
Franco Capodarte, al quale HDSI ha assegnato l’Award 2001 in
riconoscimento alla sua intensa attività giornalistica legata dalla
subacquea, da “Mondo Sommerso” alla RAI.
Franco Capodarte, to whom HDSI has granted “The Annual
Award 2001”. He has worked for over 20 years (since 1963) for
the periodical Mondo Sommerso and then as responsible of the
underwater team of the Italian television (RAI).
Danilo Cedrone nel suo intervento ha rievocato con suggestive
immagini i retroscena di quella che ai tempi del primo “Mondo
Sommerso” era una professione nuova: il fotoreporter subacqueo.
Danilo Cedrone has revealed through evocative images the
backstage activities of the pioneer-photoreporters.
