Master of design famous
guest of a conference
of architecture
Last March Porlezza had the pleasure to guest
Mario Botta, famous master of international
architecture. In the exceptional location of the
showroom Selva Arredamenti photographers
and journalists among sofas, cushions and pieces
of furniture had the chance to know Botta
and to talk with him about his project philosophy
of some of his works. Brillant and open,
Botta had words of appreciation for the magazine
Magic Lake, in 2007 it was published an
exclusive interview of him. Later on, a selected
number of guests knew the master, in a convivial
situation at the restaurant and wine bar
HCP Zero. Botta improvised sketches of fantastic
architectures, autographs and dedications
on the reprint of his volume“Quasi un diario”.
The evening organized by Edil G.F.P. and by the
members of Amici di Como, Petazzi Costruzioni
and Selva arredamenti reached the highest
moment a the conference “Sogno nella realtà”
(Dream in reality), the most important speaker
was the architect Mario Botta, presented and
introduced by the engineer Daniele Manzolini.
The master illustrated some of his recent works
of art and he stressed his interpretation of the
space of the sacred, going from the heptagonal
church of Santo Volto in Turin to the Synagogue
in Tel Aviv. Then he told some particular aspects
about the construction of the Cantina Petra in
Suvereto, Tuscany revealing a few anecdotes
related to the development of the data processing
considering the particular needs of the customer.
The narrative path of Botta embraced
experiences in India between astonishment
and fascination of the local construction techniques,
continuing with the works in South
Korea. The enthusiasm of the public was clear,
people were listening to the succession of the
descriptions about his building sites; the public
was stressing the interesting descriptions
with thunderous applauses rich in warmth
and gratitude. Then he wanted to dedicate a
specific mention to Borromini, to his Swiss origins
and to the recognition given to the work of
the great baroque master with the realization
of the model of San Carlino in Lugano. At the
end, the architect Botta fulfilled the wish of the
public and he answered to technical questions
and curiosities and referring to the title of the
evening “Sogno nella realtà” (Dream in reality)
he expressed his personal dream…a convent
which could represent the cycle of life.
