Installation5 Installation5.1 Mechanical installationDanger: Before starting work, make surethat the pump has been disconnected from thepower supply.EnglishInstallation siteProvide a weatherproof, frost-free, dust-free andwell-ventilated room for the installation. Choosean installation site that is easily accessible.Caution: Dirt can cause the pump to fail.Flush the pipe system before installation.Note: In the case of the Star-Z NOVA Aand Star-Z NOVA C versions, the stop valve andnon-return valve are pre-installed. In the case ofthe Star-Z NOVA version, these valves have tobe installed additionally.1. Prepare the installation site so that the pumpcan be installed without being exposed tomechanical stresses.2. InstallationTurn the motor head orremove it3. Release the union nut - unscrew it completelyif necessary.EnglishCaution: Do not damage the housing seal.Replace damaged seals.4. Turn the motor head so that the Wilo-Connectorpoints downwards.Open the stop valve1Caution: If the position is wrong, watercan penetrate and destroy the pump.5. Tighten the union nut again.6. Turn slot (1) with a screwdriver so that it isparallel to the direction of flow (only in thecase of the Star-Z NOVA A, and Star-ZNOVA C versions).Note: To close, turn the slot so that it isacross the direction of flow.7. Fit the thermal insulation shell.Caution: The plastic parts of the motormay not be heat-insulated in order to protectthe pump from overheating.Connecting8. Connect the pipework.Caution: For the versions with stop andnon-return valves, these are already preinstalledand sealed with a tightening torque of15 Nm (hand-tight). Screwing with excessivetightening torque destroys the valve screw connectionand the O ring.When installing the valve, use a fixed spanner toprevent twisting.26 WILO SE 10/2009
