The only extant specimen in Coll.Pandellé (MNHN, Paris) is here designated as lectotype inorder to ensure a consistent future application of the name. Itis labelled ‘? 2165’ and ‘Chortophila nasutula’. The lectotypebelongs to a species of Delia. D. nasutula (Pandellé, 1900),comb.n., is a senior synonym of D. aconiti (Ringdahl, 1948),syn.n., described from the Alps. A series of males and femalesof the same species from Spain, Lérida: Valle de Arán(ZMUC, Copenhagen) leaves no doubt that the lectotype camefrom Hautes Pyrénées and that the Genthin specimen(s) musthave belonged to a different species.10 Delia radicum (Linnaeus, 1758)No authentic material from the Balearic Islands was seenduring the present study.11 Pandellé (1900: 232) described Anthomyia (Hydrophoria)

Pandellé (MNHN, Paris) was synonymised with thecabbage root–maggot, now Delia radicum (Linnaeus), bySéguy (1923: 91). Present examination revealed that theholotype has some setulae on the notopleural depression as inD. radicum, but differs significantly by smaller size, verylong–pubescent arista, absence of ventral setulae on vein Cand presence of 1–2 av setae on mid tibia. That combinationof characters matches a series of males from Spain, Lérida:Valle de Arán (ZMUC, Copenhagen) belonging to the Deliaalaba superspecies sensu Griffiths (1991: 1061). Directcomparison of the male terminalia of a Spanish specimen ofDelia stimulea (Pandellé, 1900), sp.rev., and a North Americanspecimen of D. alaba (Walker, 1849) [= D. uralensisHennig, 1974] revealed no significant differences. Yet,external characters such as the smaller size, notopleuralsetulae, narrower lower calypter and av setae on mid tibialeave no doubt that the Pyrenean material belongs to a distinctspecies.12 Enneastigma Stein, 1916= Anthomyia auct.= Anthomyia (Chortophila) auct.= Lasiops auct.13.
