Faunistical data are very sparse, particularly for Portugal. Many additional species shouldoccur in the region, especially in the mountains. On the otherhand, 8 species new to science but still undescribed are knownto the first author in the genera Anapausis (1 sp.), Apiloscatopse(2 spp.) Colobostema (4 spp.) and Swammerdamella (1 sp).2 Anapausis aratrix Haenni & Brunhes, 1981New record for Spain: Leon, San Glorio pass, 1580 m,16.VI.1983, 1f, R. Hall leg., Zoological Museum, Universityof Lund (ZMUL)3 Anapausis dudai Haenni, 2002This is the species recorded as Anapausis sp. by Duda (1936).4 Anapausis dufourella Haenni, 1984New record for Andorra: Puerto de Envalira, 1800 m, 8.VII.1990, 1m, M. Barták leg., coll. Barták, Prague.5 Anapausis helvetica Haenni, 1984New record for Andorra: Vall de Sant Roc, Santa Coloma,1050 m, 16–30.VI.1993, 2mm 2ff, J. Pujade leg., Coll. Haenni leg., Muséum d'Histoire naturelleNeuchâtel (MHNN).7 Apiloscatopse flavicollis (Meigen, 1838)New record for Andorra: Vall de Sant Roc, Santa Coloma,1050 m, 1–15.X.1993, 2mm, J. Pujade, Coll. Pujade, Universityof Barcelona (and other dates from the same locality). This species was recorded as dubious from Spain by Krivosheina& Haenni (1986). An authentic recent record is: Lugo,Monforte, 24.–XI.1999, 1f, J. Pérez–Valcárcel leg., coll.Carles–Tolrá, Barcelona.8 Apiloscatopse picea (Meigen, 1818)New record for Spain: Gerona, Setcases, 1200 m, 6–14.X.1987, 2mm 3ff, J.–P. Haenni leg., Muséum d'Histoire naturelleNeuchâtel (MHNN). .New record for Andorra: Vall de Sant Roc, Santa Coloma,1050 m, XI.1992, 1m, J. Pujade leg., Coll. Pujade, Universityof Barcelona (and other dates from the same locality).9 Apiloscatopse scutellata (Loew, 1876)This species was first recorded from Spain by Krivosheina &
Catálogo de los Diptera de España, Portugal y Andorra 71Haenni (1986), but no precise locality was given. This recordwas based on the following material: Gerona, Ripoll, Colladode Santicosa, 1064 m, 6–14.X.1987, 10mm 4ff, J.–P. Haennileg., Muséum d'Histoire naturelle Neuchâtel (MHNN).10 Coboldia fuscipes (Meigen, 1830)New record for Baleares: Mallorca, Galilea (Ca’n Cart),19.VIII.1987, 1f, C. Ellis leg., ZoologischMuseum, University Amsterdam (ZMA).14 Reichertella geniculata (Zetterstedt, 1850)New record for Spain: Gerona, Palau Sabardera, 6–14.X.1987, 6mm 3ff, J.–P. Haenni leg., Muséum d'Histoire naturelleNeuchâtel (MHNN).15 Reichertella nigra (Meigen, 1804)According to Duda (1928) the female of R. pulicaria fromSpain (Irun) recorded by Strobl (1906) belongs in fact to thisspecies.16 Reichertella pulicaria (Loew, 1846)The record of this species from Spain by Strobl (1906) andArias Encobet (1912a) is based on a misidentification (Duda,1928) (see remarks under R. nigra (15) and Apiloscatopsestyriaca (20)). An authentic record from Spain is: Gerona, Portde la Selva (val Santa Creu), 11.VI.1991, 1f, Y. Gonseth leg.,Muséum d'Histoire naturelle Neuchâtel (MHNN).17 Scatopse notata (Linnaeus, 1758)New record for Andorra: Vall de Sant Roc, Santa Coloma,1050 m, 1–15.V.1993, 1m, J. Pujade leg., Coll. Pujade leg., Coll. Pujade,University of Barcelona (and other dates from the samelocality).19 Thripomorpha coxendix (Verrall, 1912)New record for Spain: Barcelona, Tordera, 5.VII.1990, 1f, M.Barták leg., coll. Barták, Prague.20 The 3 following species are not included in the checklist sincepublished records are based on misidentifications:Anapausis inermis (Ruthé, 1831): recorded from Spain byStrobl (1906) (followed by Arias Encobet, 1912a), but Duda(1928) considered that the Strobl specimens belong to tenuicaudaDuda, 1928 (now a junior synonym of soluta Loew). Areexamination of these specimens (Chandler, 1999) has shownthat 2 species of the soluta group are present in this material, dalmatina Duda and pollicata Chandler.Anapausis soluta (Loew, 1846): Chandler (1999) has shownthat soluta is a complex of species. The former record of thisspecies from Portugal (Haenni, 1984, Krivosheina & Haenni,1986) should refer in fact to pollicata (see under this species).Apiloscatopse styriaca (Enderlein, 1926): Duda (1928) statesthat the male of Scatopse pulicaria recorded by Strobl (1900)from Irun (Spain) belongs in fact to Apiloscatopse styriaca. This is however very unlikely since this species is a mountainouselement that occurs at the upper level of forest. Therecord should certainly refer to another species of Apiloscatopse.21 The following 3 species recorded in former literature are notretained in the present list even if their occurrence in theregion is not excluded:Efcookella albitarsis (Zetterstedt, 1850): this species has beenrecorded as dubious from Spain by Krivosheina & Haenni(1986). Since no precise data is known, E. albitarsis isexcluded from the present list, although its occurrence in theIberic peninsula is very probable.Holoplagia transversalis (Loew, 1846): this species has beenrecorded as dubious from Spain by Krivosheina & Haenni(1986). No precise data is known.Thripomorpha halteratum (Meigen, 1838): Strobl (1906)(followed by Arias Encobet, 1912a) recorded this species fromSpain. Several vicinous species have been described in thisgenus since that time and the identity of the species mentionedby Strobl cannot be ascertained. However the occurrence ofTh. halteratum is very likely in the Iberic peninsula.22 Scatopse atrata Say, 1824Arias (1912b) report of this species from Spain is unreliable. The true identity of this Nearctic species remains questionable, though subsequent authors have considered it a synonym of S.fuscipes Meig.ACKNOWLEDGEMENTSWe are pleased to thank the following colleagues who kindlysubmitted material collected by them or under their responsabilty:Miroslav Barták, Prague, Peter J.
