CONTENTS / SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. SAFETY ADVICES
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Most accidents with engines can be avoided when following all
directions in these instructions and on the engine. The dangers
most frequently occurring and the corresponding protective
measures are described below.
Responsibility of the owner
The engine ensures safe and reliable functioning when
operated according to the instructions. Read these
instructions before starting the engine. Disregarding these
instructions may result in personal injuries or property
damage.
Familiarize yourself with the quick shut-down of the engine
as well as the operation of the control functions. Do not
allow persons who have not yet received proper
instructions to operate the engine.
Do not allow children to operate the machine. Keep
children and pets away from the operating area.
Care when fuelling!
Gasoline/petrol is extremely flammable and generates explosive
vapours. Fuel outdoors in a well ventilated area when the
machine is not running. Never smoke and keep other sources of
ignition away. Always store gasoline in a suitable container. If
gasoline is spilled make sure that the spot is dry before starting
the engine.
Hot silencer
The silencer becomes very hot during operation and
remains hot even after stopping the engine. Take care not
to touch the silencer while hot. Allow the engine to cool
before storing it inside.
To prevent the risk of fire and to ensure adequate
ventilation during stationary operation place the engine at a
distance of at least 1 metre from walls or other objects
while operating it. Do not store any flammable objects near
the machine.
Carbon monoxide hazard
Exhaust gases contain toxic carbon monoxide. Avoid breathing
exhaust gases. Never operate the engine in a closed garage or
any other enclosed area.
Other equipment
Read the operating instructions of the machine which is powered
by the engine once more; learn about additional safety measures
which need to be followed in connection with starting, operating
and stopping the engine or any protective equipment that may
possibly be required to operate the machine.
