Abstract
Reconfigured Bodies
Philosophy and feminist theories implicitly based on its concepts
and methods refuse to acknowledge modes of corporeality for
their form, structure, and statute, to locate key questions and to
establish validity and truth criteria for their modes of explanation.
This text suggests, in broad outlines, some of the main
characteristics of the history we inherit in our conception of the
body, calling attention to the fact that if feminist theory uncritically
accepts these usual assumptions it will be participating in the social
devaluation of the body which goes hand in hand with the
oppression of women.
