CORA CORALINA TROPHY for Best Film<br />

Cora Coralina (20/8/1889 – 10/4/1985)<br />

Pseudonym of Ana Lins dos Guimarães Peixoto, legendary citizen of Goiás, candy maker and poet. Short before<br />

passing away, she said: “Dead I will be like a tree, a log, a pantry and my laced roots in the leaves of my cradle are<br />

broken cords of a lyra…”.<br />

CARMO BERNARDES TROPHY for Best Feature Film<br />

Carmo Bernardes (2/12/1915 – 20/4/1996)<br />

A writer and journalist, Carmo Bernardes, born in Patos de Minas (Minas Gerais), came to Goiás in 1920. His<br />

legacy was his literary work, with Nature as a constant partner. An outstanding fiction and non-fiction writer, his<br />

profound knowledge came from his direct contact with the flora and fauna.<br />

JESCO VON PUTTKAMER TROPHY for Best Medium-Length Film<br />

Jesco von Puttkamer (21/5/1919 – 31/5/1994)<br />

Puttkamer was a pioneer of anthropological filmmaking in Goiás. An engineer, photographer and naturalist, he<br />

admired the culture of the indigenous populations, and spent 42 years of his life documenting it. Jesco came to<br />

Goiás in 1948, after escaping nazi persecution. Along with the Villas Boas brothers, Francisco Meirelles and others,<br />

he participated in the expeditions that tried to contact Indians of the Amazon and of the Mid-West.<br />

ACARY PASSOS TROPHY for Best Short Film<br />

Acary Passos (17/2/1907 – 23/5/1993)<br />

Acary was born in Rio de Janeiro and moved with his family to Goiás just 30 days after his birth. In 1939, after finishing<br />

Merchant Marine School, he was assigned to the Presidential Military Advisor office, in charge of building<br />

a landing strip on Bananal Island, so that Getúlio Vargas, Brazilian President at that time, could visit the area and<br />

the Carajá Indians. This was his first opportunity to come in close contact with Indians and it was decisive, because<br />

he then found out what his true call in life was. From 1969 to 1981, Acary was the director of the Anthropological<br />

Museum of the Federal University of Goiás.<br />

LUIZ GONZAGA SOARES TROPHY for Best Film Chosen by Popular Jury<br />

Luiz Gonzaga Soares (5/3/1951 – 18/5/1999)<br />

Born in Goiânia and graduated in Publicity by Academical Education Centre of Brasília (CEUB), in 1976 he moved<br />
