Erivan e Maria são dois adolescentes que moram na
reserva seringueira Chico Mendes, em plena Floresta
Amazônica. Produzem o látex do leite extraído das seringueiras,
enquanto preparam sua casinha de madeira
para o filho que vai nascer. De tarde, vão juntos à escola,
passando por trilhas que cortam a floresta. Na volta,
à noite, eles seguem com suas lanterninhas, contando
histórias para afastar o medo daquilo que porventura
cruze o seu caminho.
Erivan and Maria are two teenagers who live in the Chico
Mendes rubber tree reservation, in the middle of the Amazon
Rainforest. They produce latex from the milk extracted
from the rubber trees while preparing their little wood hut
for their son, who is about to be born. In the afternoon, they
go to school together, walking through trails that cross the
rainforest. In the evening, when they go back, they walk with
their little flashlights telling stories to chase away the fear of
anything that may come across their way.
